CONKER TREE FARM CAMPSITE
Welcome to 'Camping Rural Des Marronniers' in the heart of the rolling countryside of the Poitou-Charentes region of France. This is a perfect base for exploring this unspoilt part of France or one of it's neighbours such as the 'Loire' or 'Dordogne'. It is also ideal as a stop over when travelling to and from Spain and Portugal or simply for a relaxing holiday.
The Site
Back to Basics
We are a small,quiet,family run campsite (CL/CS type) and open all year for caravans,tents and camper vans.
The site has 6 pitches and is set in 2 acres of meadow of an old farm. We are a working small-holding with animals such as cows, goats, ducks and chickens and have fresh produce such as eggs,milk and seasonal vegetables and salad according to availability.
There is some shade provided by the conker trees (marronniers) and various other trees dotted around the site,just right for curling up with a good book or for a snooze in the heat of the day.
As well as the usual toilet emptying point and fresh water, there is a W.C. and hot water shower in a family bathroom along with washing-up facilities,shelter and play ares (indoor and out).
Dogs are welcome as long as on leads and exercised off site.
Outdoor caravan storage is available.No more expensive ferry crossings and half the distance for towing to southern europe.
The Area
The Charente is a very rural and peaceful area, perfect for sight-seeing,activity holidays or simply relaxing and doing nothing. There are several rivers and lakes within the Poitou-Charentes region which are suitable for all kinds of water sports including fishing and canoeing and the Atlantic coast is also within easy reach.
As the country-side is gently rolling the area is suitable for cycling and walking along the many country lanes and pathways and there is quite a varied bird-life making it ideal for bird-watching and the clear, bright nights making it ideal for star gazing!
There are also many varied and numerous tourist attractions suiting all tastes from animal parks and motor racing to history/architecture and themed attractions as well, and of course there are lots of markets selling local goods and produce.
The Poitou-Charentes is also convenient for visiting other areas of France such as the Dordogne and the Loire but less crowded and busy and is therefore an ideal part of France to pay a visit.
